What to compare in an air-pulse stimulator

Pressure waves, vibration or both?

Air-pulse stimulation uses pressure waves. Some models add vibration or a second stimulating part. Compare the programmes available for each function rather than relying on the largest number in a product name.

Head shape and controls

Look at the head from several angles and compare the dimensions of the whole device. Consider how you will reach the buttons while holding it. If a replaceable attachment is mentioned, check compatibility and package contents; a similar appearance does not mean it fits another range.

Check how intensity settings are changed and whether you can increase and decrease them directly. More programmes alone do not tell you whether the controls will suit you.

Charging and head care

Check the charging method and supplied accessories. Read battery-life claims together with the manufacturer's stated conditions. Do not infer suitability for use in water or rinsing from the device's appearance or surface material.

Follow the specific model's instructions for cleaning and removing the head, where applicable. When choosing a toy cleaner, check that the manufacturer allows it for that surface.
